The opportunity is now if you want to enroll in the Quincy Police Department’s fall 2018 Citizen Police Academy class.  This class, which is 10 weeks in length, begins on Wednesday, September 5 and runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Most classes are held at Quincy City Hall and there is NO CHARGE to attend!

During this class, participants will not only learn about all aspects of the Quincy Police Department, but will also have an opportunity to participate in hands on activities.  Some of the class topics include, Street Crimes Unit, D.U.I. practical and mock vehicle stops, gangs, Emergency Response Team, crime scene investigation, and drug enforcement, just to name a few.  There is also an optional range day and class participants can be a part of a ride-along with a Q.P.D. officer.

To be eligible for the course, applicants must live in Quincy, work or go to school in Quincy, or own property in Quincy.  Applicants must also be at least 18 years of age.  This is a perfect opportunity to learn more about your police department and why police officers do what they do.

I am a graduate of the class which I took several years ago. It was quite an eye- opening experience. The classes were never dull and those three hours flew by.  I didn’t want it to end. As the hours went by, so did the weeks and before you knew it the class was over. You won’t regret you took this class.
