Urgent Recall of Illinois Cheese Pizza Could Be in Your Freezer
I'm not a fan of product recalls and that's especially true when it affects pizza. There's a popular one that has been available in Illinois referred to as "Chicago's Finest" that is under an urgent recall now and could be in your freezer.
The Food and Drug Administration just dropped this bulletin involving a pizza that has been available in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. The company that makes it is Palermo Villa and this is what the box looks like.
Why is this pizza in Illinois now under urgent recall?
The FDA says it's being done out of an abundance of caution due to a "possible plastic foreign contaminant". No illnesses or injuries have been reported as a result of someone eating this pizza.
There is some potential good news. The expiration date of the affected Connie's Chicago's Finest pizzas is 11/27/24 meaning if you check dates before cooking, you likely wouldn't eat a pizza that's been expired for more than two weeks now. But, the manufacturer doesn't want to take any chances and is urging anyone who finds them to not consume them.
