Friday Closure Ends 62-Year Run for Illinois Truckers
I can tell you from family experience that the trucking business has never been an easy enterprise. That's sadly proving true for a long-time Illinois company that will close its doors forever on Friday after a run of 62 years in business.
According to trucking industry site Freight Waves, this Illinois company is closing down operations on Friday, July 18, 2025.
This is Chicago Suburban Express located in Forest View, Illinois which is unsurprisingly in the Chicagoland region. Their company website says they began business in 1963 with a fleet of only 5 trucks. Chicago Suburban Express routes reportedly included Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and also Missouri.
Why is this Illinois trucking company going out of business?
The report from Freight Waves says while the company confirmed the plans to close their doors on Friday, they declined to provide a reason why. I won't speculate on this company's specific situation, but I can attest that friends and family who have been over-the-road drivers have said insurance costs have skyrocketed for some making it hard for some to make a living. Let's hope the drivers for this Illinois company end up in a better situation. It's an understatement to say that truckers are vital in the transport of many items regular people like you and me rely on every day.
