Food Elites Say America’s #1 Pizza Comes from this Illinois Place

There is no such thing as a bad pizza and I think I can prove that with science. But, some are better than others and food elites say the best you can get in America comes from one Illinois place.

This is a new kind of national food ranking from Yelp as it's the best 100 pizza places in America as voted by what they refer to as their "elites" who are "our most passionate and trusted reviewers and influencers". I'm going to assume that an elite person would have more knowledge than a regular dude like me, so it's kind of a big deal that #1 on their list is a well-known Illinois place that borders on legendary.

Who do the "elites" say is the best pizza place in America?

Pequod’s Pizzeria, Chicago, Illinois

The "elites" love the "legendary caramelized-crust pies", but they do argue whether this pizza is really a traditional style Chicago deep dish or not. Who cares when you get such a substantial that looks like this?

It really shouldn't come as a surprise that a Chicago, Illinois place would be near the top of a national pizza list, but it's still impressive that Pequod's beat the also legendary east coast Jersey and New York joints.
