CEO’s Warn Missouri Fruit & Vegetable Prices to Skyrocket in Days
If you thought the price of eggs rising was entertaining, you'll also likely enjoy what's about to happen to fruit and vegetable prices in Missouri as multiple CEO's are warning they could skyrocket within days.
I saw this warning issued in a report by Fox Business as they shared warnings about what will happen soon to fruit and vegetable prices. Tariffs on other countries like Mexico are set to go into effect in early March which is right now. They say that Target CEO Brian Cornell says a price increase on vegetables that are imported from affected countries could cause residents in Missouri and other states see a bump in prices of 25% as that is the imposed tariff rate.
Axios echoed that report saying that those price increases on fruits and vegetables could happen "in days".
We've watched egg prices go through the roof as the bird flu greatly affected supplies in Missouri and it appears that fruits and vegetables are set to join them for completely different reasons. Will demand go down as people buy less because of high prices? I have a feeling we'll find out sooner rather than later. I'm no financial or produce expert, but the food pain doesn't appear to be getting better for the foreseeable future.
