About ten miles Northwest of Canton, MO on route 81 you will come across the greenest town in the state: St. Patrick. This town sure knows how to celebrate the holiday with a leprechaun 5K race, road bowling, and of course, food. Here are a few things you might not know about the festive Missouri town:

1) It Was Not Always Called St. Patrick

Founded in 1833, the town was originally called North Santa Fe before changing to St. Marysville and finally St. Patrick in 1857.

2) The Town Was Founded by Irish Immigrants

Named after the saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick was founded by Irish immigrants

3) They Have a Shrine

The town is the home to the Shrine of St. Patrick: a medieval-inspired Catholic Church

4) They Have a "One-of-A-Kind" Postage Stamp

So you many not mail a lot of things anymore, but swing by the St. Patrick post office for a one-of-a-kind stamp that isn't available anywhere else IN THE WORLD! The Shamrock stamp features the saying “St. Patrick Missouri: The Only One In The World” it also has a Irish-style hat & pipe.

5) So Many Letters Have Been Stamped

As many as 50,000 letters come through the post office to receive the special stamp. You can receive your very own copy of the stamp by mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope to Postmaster, St. Patrick, MO 63466 before March 31.

There will be several activities for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day celebration, there will be plenty to do for the whole family. I loved going to St. Patrick when I was a kid and look forward to bring my girls and make a day out of it.
