If you love the lake life, but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on the pastime, a Missouri place was just named the most affordable lakeside town in America.

I was alerted to this special Missouri honor when I saw this YouTube short shared by Lake.com.

I found the new Lake.com ranking and it is based on data from Booking.com where they computed the "lowest median price for a five-day stay over three separate dates in fall". With those numbers crunched, Branson came in at #1 in America for Fall getaways with a "median price of $231 for five days".

Even though my childhood was admittedly a very long time ago, my parents would take our family to the Branson part of Missouri almost every year. Silver Dollar City was a common destination and I vividly remember walking around the Bagnell Dam area. Since I wasn't the adult with the money yet, I don't know how much affordability played into their decision for us to vacation there, but I have no doubt it was a factor.

I am a big fan of Missouri having affordable family destination options that don't break the bank. The fact that it's now ranked #1 in America for getting away this Fall is awesome.
