10 Best High Schools in the Kansas City, Missouri Area for 2025

There are some great high schools in the Kansas City, Missouri area, but only 10 can be considered the best of the best and there's a new prestigious ranking that reveals the top ones for 2025.

I have some personal experience with Kansas City area high schools. I didn't attend them, but did attend a northeastern Missouri high school and when we played them in football, getting run into by their players was like running into a truck. They were and are very good at sports.

US News & World Report isn't concerned so much with sports as they are academics and they used numerous metrics to determine the best high schools in the Kansas City, Missouri metro area. Note: these are the 10 best public high schools as the private schools were ranked in a different list.

The large number of Parkway high schools in the Kansas City area always confused me, but I've never been considered the sharpest knife in the drawer either. Congrats to all of these high schools who are obviously doing a wonderful job of preparing their students for college and/or their professional adult lives ahead.
