It's not often that I'm right about something, but what I've just found kind of makes a point that I've been trying to get across for years. There's brand new data showing that the safest city in Missouri is really a suburb of America's 'murder capital'.

There's a brand new study about crime (or the lack thereof) in cities and towns across America by Money Geek. They have come up with a brand new way to determine if an area is safe or not and that's how much money that city or town spends fighting crime.

By this new measure, what is the safest city/town in Missouri?

It's a suburb of just over 31,000 - Ballwin, MissouriBallwin only spends around $155 per capita to battle crime there.

This just in - Ballwin is one of the upscale parts of what the rest of the internet loves to label as the murder capital of America Saint Louis. How many times have I made the case that Saint Louis gets a bad rap and most of the metro area is safe, nice and family-friendly? It's just a handful of small pockets of hyper-violent areas that bring the rest of the area down when crime numbers are shared.

Granted, you need to be moderately wealthy to afford to live in Ballwin as the median home price is over $350,000, but it's still one of many places in and around St. Louis that really are great places to live.
