Gruesome Illinois Cold Case Featured on America’s Most Wanted
It's been a mystery for 19 years. The gruesome details of an Illinois cold case were featured on an episode of America's Most Wanted with the hope that someone has information that will help solve a terrible crime.
Among the cases that the Illinois State Police have yet to solve is a mystery that began on May 23 of 2005 when one of two severed legs were discovered just off of I-55 in Illinois by school children. The other leg was found the next day. It would take nearly 3 years before DNA tests would reveal that the legs found in Illinois were from Lindsay Marie Harris.
The Illinois State Police say Lindsay Marie Harris had family connections in New York State, but her life was primarily connected to Las Vegas, Nevada. How did a woman with ties to completely opposite coasts in America end up with her remains in an Illinois field? Many crime podcasts have their own theories.
According to Uncovered, Lindsay was last seen on May 4, 2005 in Henderson, Nevada at a bank where she was making a deposit. She also reportedly made calls to utility companies that day, but it's not known if she was paying bills or shutting off service.
The Illinois State Police say "Harris’ case has aired multiple times on the previously aired television show, America’s Most Wanted". As of this writing, no other remains from Lindsay Marie Harris have been located.
The Illinois State Police hope someone has information that can lead them to Lindsay's killer. They say you can contact Illinois State Police, Zone 4 Investigations at 309-693-5015.
