As far as the east is from the west is normally the distance I like to stay away from political issues, but I'll make an exception in this case. A viral video claims that votes in a certain Illinois place are not being counted, but is that really true? Let's find out.

Before I share what I've learned, watch this video shared on Instagram for yourself and you'll see a man claiming that votes were not being counted in Schaumburg, Illinois.

I looked at the website Check Your Fact and they did some research into what's going on at this polling place in Schaumburg, Illinois and whether the man's claims are valid. The Daily Herald in suburban Chicago did confirm that the Schaumburg ballot scanner did have an outage Monday, but that protocol was followed and the ballots were kept in a secure lock box until the scanner was back in operation.

This outage reportedly happened a few days ago and the scanner was back online by 2pm that same day.

I fear that the video above is going to just be the first of many as we get closer to election day and likely even after. While I will never tell anyone how to vote and/or feel about political issues, I would highly recommend doing some research before believing and/or spreading allegations like this as it will not help anyone in any way.
