AI is Coming to Missouri McDonalds in 2024, But It’s Probably OK
I like to be an optimistic person, but I will admit that I'm more than a little bit alarmed at how artificial intelligence is starting to take over. That's true even at Missouri McDonalds as the robots will be playing a large part of their 2024 plan. It's probably no reason to worry though. Maybe.
Is this the part when Skynet becomes self-aware? Asking for a friend.
Mashed just shared a new video talking about all the changes coming to the 299 McDonalds in Missouri in 2024. They included 11 main points (and I've added my own emphasis)
- New burger buns
- Saucier Big Macs
- Patties with onions
- More chicken
- Meltier cheese
- More locations
- CosMc's
- AI service
- Better drive-thrus
- Fresher mobile orders
- Improved loyalty program
Will Arnold Schwarzenegger suddenly appear in the McDonalds drive-thru? Apparently not (darn). The Mashed video says that artificial intelligence will help alert McDonalds general managers to problems with orders and issues with supplies and staff.
But wait, didn't McDonalds try using AI in the past?
That's true according to Mashed. They say that they tried letting AI take over drive-thru lanes, but some customers ended up with "bacon in their ice cream" (it really happened). Excuse me while I try to stop laughing at that visual...rest easy as McDonalds reportedly isn't doing that this time. They just want artificial intelligence to help them identify problems faster. If that's all the robots are being trusted with, there's probably no reason to worry. Maybe. Unless your name is John Connor.
