Auto Parts Chain with 156 Illinois Locations to Close 523 Stores

This was certainly a surprise. One of the more popular auto parts chains in America with 156 Illinois locations just reported unexpected losses for the quarter and announced they will be closing hundreds of stores.

Advance Auto Parts announced in a quarterly reported that they had posted a loss for year over year earnings. The press release said they earned $2.2 billion dollars during the same quarter last year, but it was down to $2.1 billion for the most recent quarter this year. Comparable store sales decreased 2.3%.

Because of that, they announced they were "closing 523 Advance corporate stores, exiting 204 independent locations, and closing four distribution centers".

According to the Advance Auto Parts store locator page, there are 156 Illinois locations as of the date of this writing. Advance Auto Parts did NOT announce how many of those Illinois stores that will be closing their doors.
