If you adventure enough in the woods of Illinois, you'll find some amazing history sometimes hiding in the trees. That's true of abandoned Illinois space stations that once were used to talk to satellites.

Have you ever heard of the Hanover Earth Station Lookouts hidden in a park near Forestville, Illinois? The Roaring Nelsons on YouTube recently captured a short video of what remains of them.

The Jo Daviess County Discovery Area says these buildings were built in the 1970's to communicate with satellites and once supported 400-ton antenna. There's not much remaining of them now, but it's a unique step into a time machine of what satellite communication used to look like more than 50 years ago.
