Not good news on the business front for convenience chain 7-Eleven. In an earnings call, it was revealed that they will be closing 444 stores forever. The question is how many locations in Illinois will be affected.

I saw CNN Business today report the startling news that 7-Eleven announced in an earnings call and statement that they would be shutting 444 locations due to "slowing sales, declining traffic, inflationary pressures and a decrease in cigarette purchases".

Locations Cloud shows that Illinois is among the states with the most 7-Eleven locations. Their count shows 318 7-Eleven locations in Illinois which ranks it 9th among states for that brand.

Most of the Illinois locations of 7-Eleven seem to be clustered in the Chicagoland region, Quad Cities and the East St. Louis area. Chicago has 103 7-Eleven stores which ranks it 5th in America for cities with that brand.

As of this writing, 7-Eleven has NOT announced which specific locations will be closing their doors forever, but as this is a developing story, it will be updated once specific Illinois places set to close are disclosed.
