146 Deaths in Missouri in 2025 Connected to Highly-Contagious Bug

We're not out of the danger zone for the cold and flu season in Missouri quite yet. The fact is that the spike in sickness is higher than it's been in years in the state with a highly-contagious bug being connected to at least 146 deaths.

I was checking the Influenza Surveillance Dashboard for the state of Missouri as I've heard talk that there is a terrible bug making the rounds and that suspicion is correct. This graph will give you an idea of how bad the latest flu bug is compared to recent years. The red line represents 2024/2025.

Here's the chilling statistic shared about how bad the flu has been so far in 2025 in Missouri:

"One hundred forty six influenza-associated deaths have been reported in Missouri as of Week 8. ... Data is sourced from Missouri's death certificate data."

What can you do to avoid this current nasty flu in Missouri?

There are the typical common sense things like washing your hands frequently, but diet plays a big role, too. Making sure you're drinking enough water and eating a balanced diet can make your body and immune system stronger to give you a better chance to fight off this flu if you get it and hopefully survive it which sadly has not been the case for 146 in Missouri this year.
