Why a Rural Illinois Couple Don’t Walk Outside at Night Anymore
Sometimes you have an experience that changes you. Something that alters what you're willing to do and what you're not. That happened for one rural Illinois couple who no longer walk outside at night after a horrifying encounter that made them wonder what lives in the woods behind their home.
This strange encounter happened in July of 2014 in Mineral, Illinois which is a very small rural area in the north-central part of the state east of the Quad Cities northwest of Peoria. They were walking home late at night as they lived in the country and the weather was pleasant.
Both the husband and wife suddenly became aware that something was moving in the woods to their side as they could hear the crackling of wood and brush. Whatever it was sounded...large. It was the sound of an animal possibly being chased by another animal...or so they hoped. When something appeared out of the brush ahead of them, they realized this was no ordinary animal.
They shared what happened next with YouTube channel Lilith Dread.
It was a large creature that they described as "hulking" which crossed their path then retreated back into the woods. Their walk home had suddenly become a run. They entered their home, locked the doors and stared out of the windows at the woods in their backyard.
After about an hour, the woman saw the creature again and called the husband who also saw the shadow of something large that had appeared out of the woods in their yard. Whatever it was would retreat into the woods again and they wouldn't sleep much that night.
They also now don't walk outside at night either.
