I have mentioned before that I was born in and raised in Missouri plus I live in Missouri now. Keep that fact in mind as I mention that I reuse paper towels and cups. Is it any surprise then that Missouri was just declared one of the cheapest states in America.

I'm also bad at math which is why I was NOT the guy that put together this cheapest states in America list. Blame this one one 24/7 Wall St. While West Virginia is the cheapest state in America, Missouri comes in at a very affordable #6.

By the way, this study was actually done by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center, a division of the Missouri state government.

There are a lot of metrics and considerations baked into this cheapest state study. It's not just low cost of living. Median household income compared to how much vital things cost plays into the conclusion about what states really are inexpensive to live in.

I've lived in many different parts of America which is both a good and a bad thing. Love the states my family has lived in, but really wish we had never left the Midwest in the first place. I can tell you from my experience that living in Missouri really is more affordable than you might think if you haven't tried to survive elsewhere especially in the western states where real estate and food can sometimes cost a fortune.

The grass really isn't greener on the other side of the (not affordable) fence.
