Assurance did a comprehensive study digging into the numbers for each state to determine what day and what time of day is the most dangerous to be behind the wheel. They broke it down into two categories: weekdays and weekend. Their data comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration information regarding fatal crashes.

I would have guessed that it would have been the 5p to 6p hour as many people flee from their place of employment.

One odd side note: The most dangerous day of the week to drive in Illinois is Thursday and that's actually true for a majority of states. Peculiar.
