I know that wasps were created for a very good reason, but I have yet to figure out what that reason is. That's why I understand my neighbors in Missouri trying to get rid of them every way they know how. There's one new hack on social media that seems to work, but there's a very big problem which means you probably shouldn't try it.

I am my family's designated "get rid of that pest" person. When my wife and/or kids see a spider, ant or wasp, they shine the dad bat signal in the sky (or ceiling) and I am beckoned. I've not tried this hack many are recommending on TikTok and don't plan to anytime soon. They take a cup or bucket of gasoline and surround the wasps nest with it.

What you're not seeing on many of these videos is it can go very wrong. If you don't immediately corner all of the wasps, you're going to get stung hard and often.

There's another issue for my Missouri friends to consider. This just in. Gasoline is flammable. I've confessed before of not paying close attention in physics class, but throwing gasoline on your home will sometimes cause it to catch fire (possibly later when you're not watching).

I don't want to anger my "friends" at PETA, but I am not sympathetic to wasps. I eliminate them when they are a threat to my family (meaning over a doorway we use). I don't go out of my way to zonk the little pests if they're not causing a problem, but if it's a decision between them and me, I win. However, make sure you do so in a safe manner that doesn't have an origination on TikTok maybe?
